The No. 15 University of Redlands men's tennis team battled it out with Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges on Friday afternoon in a blustery match on Verdieck Courts. Despite garnering a 2-1 lead through the doubles, the Bulldogs came up short of the upset of the No. 3 team in the country, falling by a score of 2-7.
After CMS put up the first point with a win at No. 3, the Maroon and Gray answered with an 8-3 victory, as junior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) and freshman Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) prevailed at the No. 2 position. Sophomore Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and junior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) gave the home team a slight 2-1 edge by nabbing an 8-6 victory at the top slot.
Unfortunately for Redlands, the singles matches proved to be very different, with each one going in favor of the Stags.
Redlands (14-5, 3-1 SCIAC) strives to return to the win column on Saturday, April 16, when it hosts the Caltech Beavers at 10 a.m. on Verdieck Courts.
