The No. 15 University of Redlands men's tennis team took care of business in Tuesday's non-conference match against Lewis & Clark College (OR), sweeping the Pioneers in a 9-0 triumph. After being tested at No. 3 doubles, the Bulldogs responded by cruising to straight-set showings in all six singles matches.
The No. 2 tandem of freshman Chase Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and junior Parker Wilson (Carlsbad, CA) set the tone early with an 8-1 victory, before sophomore Joey Dulle (St. Louis, MO) and junior Jake Ly (Torrance, CA) prevailed at the top slot with an 8-4 decision.
The No. 3 duo of freshman Sawyer Patterson (Burbank, CA) and junior Tom Suchodolski (Amherst, MA) faced the toughest challenge in a back-and-forth match but preserved the Bulldogs' doubles sweep by earning a 9-8(5) victory.
In singles, graduate student Taylor Hunt (Seattle, WA) cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5, while Dulle officially sealed the deal on the team's 11th victory of the season with his 6-0, 6-1 performance at the No. 2 slot.
Wilson quickly followed by dismissing his No. 3 foe, 6-2, 6-1, before Lipscomb provided a 6-4, 6-2 triumph at the top spot. In addition, Ly and sophomore Cooper Lacetera (Westhampton Beach, NY) notched straight-set wins for the Maroon and Gray.
Redlands (11-3, 1-0 SCIAC) heads to Whittier College on Friday, March 25, for a 3 p.m. Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) showdown against the Poets.
