All-Americans Patrick Lipscomb and Nick Cummins Exit NCAA Doubles Tournament with Tough Quarterfinal Loss

The University of Redlands men's tennis season officially came to a close on Friday afternoon in Mason, Ohio, as the Bulldogs' top doubles duo of seniors Patrick Lipscomb (Irvine, CA) and Nick Cummins (Rancho Mirage, CA) came up short in its quarterfinal match of the NCAA Division III Doubles Championships.

While facing off against Chris Krimbill and Louis Stuerke of Case Western Reserve University (OH) in today's match, the Bulldogs battled through an extremely competitive first set that required a tiebreak to decide.  Even that was tightly contested, but the CWRU tandem edged out Lipscomb and Cummins by a tally of 9-7.

Facing another one-set deficit, the Maroon and Gray fought to catch lightning in a bottle and repeat yesterday's comeback thrill.

However, it was not in the cards for the Bulldogs, as Krimbill and Stuerke prevailed, 7-6(7), 6-2.

As Redlands' No. 1 doubles team, Lipscomb and Cummins put together an impressive record of 21-7 in 2015 and earned All-America status by advancing to the national quarterfinals.
