On the heels of a hat trick from first-year forward Jackson Fox (Kirkland, WA), the University of Redlands men's soccer team dominated Caltech, 8-0, at home in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action on Saturday afternoon.

The Bulldogs started early as first-year midfielder Joseph Parra (West Covina, CA) beat his man and sent a low pass across the mouth of the goal for sophomore forward Steve Acuña to slam home for the first goal of the game. Acuña continued to produce as he put a deep cross from the right flank in the perfect spot for first-year forward Ethan Kovach (Las Vegas, NV) to rise up and head the ball in to make it 2-0 in the 12th minute.

Redlands kept its foot on the pedal and scored three more times before the half to go up by five. The goal-scorers included first-year midfielder Chad Feingold (Los Gatos, CA) and senior midfielder Kalle Sjogrell (Danville, CA), which marked the first of their careers as Bulldogs.

Fox came out of halftime on fire with a header-goal off a cross from Feingold in the second minute of action. Less than three minutes later, sophomore forward Paetin Nelson (Portland, OR) sent a quick pass forward to Fox, who found the back of the net for the second time of the game. He completed his hat trick just over three minutes later when Nelson dropped off a back pass that Fox drilled in from about 25 yards out for Redlands' 8-0 lead with 37 minutes left on the clock.

The Maroon and Gray defense closed out the game strong and only allowed one shot on goal for the half that was saved by senior goalkeeper Emilio Raby-Newsom (Chicago, IL).

For the game, six different players scored, including firsts from Fox, Sjogrell, and Feingold. Both Feingold and Acuña ended the game with a goal and an assist. Senior goalkeeper Noah Natividad (San Diego, CA) earned the shutout victory.

Redlands (3-4-2, 3-2-1 SCIAC) prepares for a lengthy four-game road trip, beginning with Chapman University on Monday, October 7, at 7 p.m.
