No. 9 Redlands Men's Golf Advances to Third Round of NCAA Division III Championships

During Wednesday's round of the NCAA Division III Championships, the No. 9 University of Redlands men's golf team made the 18-team cut by posting a score of 312 to sit in 16th place with a 36-hole tally of 618.

Junior Jake Hollander (Peterborough, NH) remains the top golfer for the Bulldogs through round two at the Keen Trace Golf Course in Nicholasville, Kentucky.  Now in a 12-way tie for 54th place, he tapped in 12 pars and added a birdie on the sixth hole. He ended the round with a score of 78 for a 153-stroke total through two days of action.

Senior Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) currently sits in an 11-way tie for 78th after shooting an 80 in the second round for a total of 155. Lawson made par on seven holes and registered a birdie on the 17th hole. In addition, first-year Kyle Sharp (Austin, TX) produced a consistent round with 12 pars to go along with a birdie on the seventh hole for a 76.  With a two-day score of 156, he lands in a 13-way tie for 89th.

Senior Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) and junior Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA) each entered the clubhouse with a 36-hole score of 158 to move into a nine-way tie for 112th place. Stroes used 12 pars to finish the round with a 78 while moving up 11 spots on the individual leaderboard. Cooper knocked in a birdie on the sixth hole to help his round of 82.

Redlands looks forward to competing in the third round of the national tournament on Thursday, May 16, beginning at 9:20 a.m. EDT.
