No. 10 Redlands Men's Golf Wins Opening SCIAC Tournament in Impressive Fashion

The No. 10 University of Redlands men's golf team swept the competition at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament No. 1 on Saturday and Sunday to win the event by five strokes. The Bulldogs led wire-to-wire with rounds of 288 and 287 for a winning 575.

In a three-way tie for medalist honors, juniors Cameron Cooper (Seattle, WA) and Jake Hollander (Peterborough, NH) paced the field of 47 competitors for much of the tournament. Cooper remained consistent with scores of 71 in each round, while Hollander scored a tournament-low 70 on day one on his way to an overall score of 142.

Senior Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) rallied from 18th place to fourth with a stellar showing on day two. After shooting a 75, he fired off a 69 to tally a 144 in an impressive effort. His Sunday score was one of only two in the 60s.

In a three-way tie for 12th-place, senior Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) scored a 148 with rounds of 73 and 75. First-year Kyle Sharp (Austin, TX) completed the Bulldogs' top five by signing his scorecard with rounds of 74 and 75 for 149.

In addition, junior Dylan Merchant (Ellsworth, WI) entered the clubhouse with a 154 off consistent rounds of 77.
