Bulldog Men's Golf Battles Tough Competition at Del Walker Intercollegiate

The No. 29 University of Redlands men's golf team teed off against top-notch competition at the 21st Del Walker Intercollegiate at Virginia Country Club on Monday and Tuesday.  Amidst challenging conditions, the Bulldogs finished in 14th place with a three-round total of 918 (305-303-310) behind multiple NCAA Division I and II opponents.

Sophomore Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) led the Maroon and Gray with his 54-hole score of 225 (75-72-78), which came off of 30 pars and five birdies at the tournament.

Sophomore Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) closely followed at 229 (77-75-77) after notching 31 pars and three birdies, while sophomore Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) impressed on the par-three holes with a score of 2.83 or minus two to rank tied-for-first among the field.  Foxley finished the event with 31 pars and three birdies for a total of 233 (75-81-77).

Finally freshman Dylan Merchant (Ellsworth, WI) and junior George Galanis (Glencoe, IL) rounded out the Bulldog competitors by tying with a total of 235.  In addition to recording five birdies over the 54 holes, Merchant notched an opening round score of 77 to lead the duo.  Galanis earned 27 pars and three birdies.

Redlands takes a short break before competing in the Embry Riddle Invitational on Monday, March 13, and Tuesday, March 14, at the Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott, AZ.
