Bulldog Men’s Golf Kicks off Season at Sonoma State Invite

The University of Redlands men's golf kicked off the fall portion of the 2015-16 season by competing in the Sonoma State Invitational on the Foxtail North Golf Course in Rohnert. With four freshmen and one senior among the scoring quintet, the Bulldogs landed in 11th place by registering a team stroke count of 927 over three rounds of competition against various NCAA Division I and II, and NAIA foes.

Highlighted by a day-one carding of 73, senior swinger John McCord (Oakland, CA) led the way for the Maroon and Gray with a 54-hole total of 223 en route to a tied-for-22nd finish. He remained steady throughout the subsequent two rounds by notching a pair of 75s.

Freshman Cade Lawson (Lake Oswego, OR) chipped in a quality performance in his first tournament as a Bulldog with a tied-for-37th showing of 228 (76-77-75). Freshman Rowan Foxley (Arlington, WA) kicked off his Bulldog career by shooting a consistent 239 (79-81-79), which awarded him 52nd place.

Freshman Alex Stroes (San Marcos, CA) finished tied-for-55th with a score of 241 at tournament's end. After shooting an 85 in the first round, Stroes settled down and followed with 78s in the next two rounds.

Finally, freshman Blaise Zingale (Greenville, SC) rounded out the Bulldogs' scorers with his 54-hole total of 260 (81-92-87).

The Bulldogs compete in the Cal State San Marcos Classic in San Diego on Monday, October 26, and Tuesday, October 27.
