2022-23 University of Redlands Men's Basketball Schedule

REDLANDS, Calif – The University of Redlands Men's Basketball team will open their 2022-23 season with six games at home in the month of November, beginning with No. 2 Mary Hardin-Baylor on Wednesday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. inside Currier Gym.

The Bulldogs finished sixth in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) standings with a 11-12, 7-9 (SCIAC) record in 2021-22. With their top-eight finish, the Bulldogs earned a spot as the No. 6 seed in the SCIAC Tournament, but failed to get out of the quarterfinals falling to No. 3 Claremont-M-S 73-69.  

Redlands does not return any all-conference performers, but they do bring back their second-leading scorer in Neil Owens (Pasadena, CA) who averaged 13.8 points per game (ppg). Overall, three of the top-five scorers return including Robert Power (Pacific Palisades, CA) and Khair Jackson (Canoga Park, CA) who were fourth and fifth in scoring at 8.8 and 8.3 points, respectively.

UR plays a total of 25 games this season, 15 inside Currier Gym and 10 on the road. There are nine non-conference games on the schedule, seven of which will be at home. The one road trip for non-conference play the Bulldogs will make their way to Texas in the second week of December when they play at LeTourneau University and East Texas Baptist University.

  • University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Nov. 9 | 28-3 | No. 7/No. 2): No prior recorded meetings. UMHB lost in the Elite 8 last season.
  • UC Santa Cruz (Nov. 11 | 6-18 | NR): Previous matchup was on Dec. 4, 2021, at Currier Gym when the Bulldogs beat the Banana Slugs 76-62. Overall, the Bulldogs are 14-8 against UCSC, having won their previous three games. They are 8-5 at home and 7-3 over the last 10 matchups.
  • University of St. Thomas (Texas) (Nov. 19 | 22-5 | NR): The Bulldogs have no recorded meetings with the Celts.
  • Willamette University (Nov. 25 | 6-18 | NR): Previous meeting was in December 2013 when the Bulldogs earned an 89-75 home win. The only other meeting since 2005-06 was in December 2012 when they won 91-86 in overtime at the Chapman Tournament.
  • George Fox University (Nov. 26 | 11-14 | NR): The Bulldogs and Bruins played in Currier Gym last November and the Bulldogs won 88-75. Overall, the Bulldog trail in the series 2-1.
  • Whittier College (Nov. 30, Feb. 8 | 11-14 | NR): The Bulldogs split the season series last year 1-1. The Bulldogs won at home 91-73 and lost on the road 103-94. The last season sweep was in 2019-20 when they went 2-0 against the Poets. Redlands has won five of the last six meetings with their last season-sweep suffered coming in 2017-18 when they went 0-2.
  • LeTourneau University (Dec. 13 | 22-5 | RV): No prior recorded meetings. Three of the Yellow Jackets' five losses came to No. 7 UMHB.
  • East Texas Baptist University (Dec. 15 | 14-12 | NR): The Bulldogs and Tigers have no prior recorded meetings.
  • Lake Forest College (Dec. 20 | 10-15 | NR): No prior recorded meetings between the Bulldogs and the Foresters.
  • Husson University (Dec. 29 | 15-10 | NR): No prior meetings on record between the Eagles and Bulldogs.
  • University of La Verne (Dec. 31, Feb. 18 | 6-18 | NR): The Bulldogs and Leopards split the two-game series last season. The Bulldogs won on the road 75-70 but lost 77-69 at home. Before last season the Bulldogs had swept the series from 2017-2020. The last time Redlands got swept was during the 2016-17 season.
  • Caltech (Jan. 4, Feb. 1 | 12-14 | NR): The Bulldogs got swept by the Beavers last season for the first time as of 2007 and it was the first time they lost back-to-back games since losing on February 3, 2015, and then January 4, 2016.
  • Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (Jan. 7, Feb. 4 | 22-5 | RV at No. 26): The Bulldogs lost at home 81-72 in their second scheduled meeting with the Sagehens. Their first game with the Sagehens was postponed and it was not be rescheduled, which ended in a loss for the Maroon and Grey.  
  • Chapman University (Jan. 11, Jan. 25 | 22-5 | RV): The Bulldogs got swept last season by CU 96-63 and 84-76.
  • Cal Lutheran University (Jan. 14, Jan. 28 | 17-9 | NR): The Bulldogs swept the season series for the first time since 2019.
  • Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges (Jan. 18, Feb. 15 | 17-8 | NR): The Bulldogs went 1-2 with a loss in the SCIAC Quarterfinals. They beat the Stags on senior day to close out the regular season. Two days after the regular season finale, the Bulldogs lost a second half lead in a 73-69 road loss during the SCIAC Tournament Quarterfinals.
  • Occidental College (Jan. 21, Feb. 21 | 10-16 | NR): Redlands had two double-digit wins, 78-61 and 80-59.
