Romeo Mays named 2nd Team All-SCIAC

2021-22 Men's Basketball All-SCIAC Teams

REDLANDS, Calif. - The 2021-22 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) men's basketball teams were announced Wednesday following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.

The University of Redlands men's basketball team saw graduate student Romeo Mays (Vallejo, CA) selected to the 2nd Team after helping lead the Maroon and Grey to the No. 6 seed in the SCIAC Post Season Tournament and an 11-11, 7-8 SCIAC record.

This season Romeo has proven to be the most deadly shot blocker in the conference and one of the premier power forwards on both ends of the floor.  In conference he averaged 12.6 PPG, 7.9 RPG and 2.8 BPG, all while shooting 49.2% from the field.  He totaled 176 points with a team high 110 rebounds and a league leading 39 blocks.

In SCIAC he ranked No. 1 in Blocks (39) and Blocks per Game (2.8), No. 3 in Total Rebounds (110) and Rebounds Per Game (7.9), No. 4 in Defensive Rebounding (80), No. 5 in Free-Throws Made (56), No. 6 in Offensive Rebounds (30), and No. 12 in Field Goal Percentage (49.2).
