The University of Redlands men's basketball team welcomed the Stags of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges to Currier Gym for a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) game on Wednesday night. Despite a close first half, the Stags pulled away late in the second to take the game 77-60.

With the score knotted at two, senior guard Hass Berry (Riverside, CA) drained a triple to go up 5-2. After a quick CMS layup, junior guard Jack Roggin (Toluca Lake, CA) earned a trip to the charity stripe after a foul on a deep ball. He sunk all three free-throws to extend the lead to 8-4.

The teams traded blows over the next six minutes. In that span, junior guard Vincenzo Ferrari (Burlingame, CA) and Berry combined for Redlands' next 10 points which included a three-pointer from each. At the 9:22-minute mark, the Bulldogs held a 22-17 advantage.

However, the Stags came charging back to retake a slight lead. Nonetheless, Roggin knocked down two consecutive shots from beyond the perimeter to flip the script yet again, giving Redlands a 28-27 score. Ferrari found Roggin for both buckets.

CMS made two more three-pointers in the ensuing minutes to put the Bulldogs in slight 28-33 hole at the half.

Nearly halfway through the second period, junior forward Parker Landolf (Alamo, CA) did all he could with a jumper and layup to keep the Bulldogs within striking distance at 44-47 with 11:02 left to play.

In the final six minutes of action, Roggin and Landolf combined for 15 of 16 of Redlands' points. Landolf also stuffed the stat sheet with a dunk, a steal, a block, and a three-pointer.

Unfortunately, CMS strung together a couple of runs to eventually take the game 77-60.

Roggin ended the night with 20 points that included a 9-for-9 effort from the free-throw line. Landolf followed with 13 points and led the team with eight rebounds.

The Bulldogs (9-5, 2-3 SCIAC) look to return to the win column when they welcome the Caltech Beavers to Currier Gym on Saturday, January 18 for a 5 p.m. tipoff.
