Sophomore Trevor Baker Named SCIAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week

It was announced earlier today that sophomore guard Trevor Baker (Phoenix, AZ) was tabbed the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for his contributions on the court in the University of Redlands' three contests from January 24-28.

Baker went off for 76 points for a remarkable average of 25.3 points per game, as the Bulldogs defeated Occidental College (77-74) and Caltech (89-64) while narrowly losing to Cal Lutheran University (82-85).

After Redlands faced a 25-point deficit against the CLU Kingsmen, Baker carried the team back into the game by scoring 31 of his game-high 33 points in the second half. Against Occidental, the Bulldogs trailed by 10 with seven minutes to go, before Baker scored six critical, late-game points. Finally, Baker added a 31-point performance, including six threes, in the team's solid win over Caltech to close out an incredible week.

Overall, he shot a ridiculous 60%, which was highlighted by an even better 61.9% from long range.  He was nearly perfect from the charity stripe, going 15-for-17.

Baker also added 19 rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

Redlands (7-11, 3-6 SCIAC) hosts Chapman University on Thursday, February 2, in an important conference showdown at 7 p.m. in Currier Gym.
