Dynamic Duo Represents Redlands Football among Elite CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Football Team for NCAA Division III on Thursday afternoon and a pair of University of Redlands student-athletes were among the honorees.  Senior offensive lineman Christian Godina (Phoenix, AZ) became a back-to-back selection to this elite list, while junior tight end Blake Roy (Camas, WA) earned his inaugural award from CoSIDA.

While excelling in the classroom and on the field, Godina and Roy represent the Bulldogs with exceptional grade-point averages and football statistics.  They are two of the 27 recipients among District 8's Division III team.

Godina played an integral role among the Bulldogs' offensive line during their co-championship run through the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).  He contributed to the team's effective offense that amassed 3,874 total yards en route to scoring 292 points on the season.  Overall, Redlands converted 78% of its chances in the red zone while amassing 19 rushing and 18 passing touchdowns.

As a Biology/Pre-Med major, Godina looks forward to completing his degree in the spring.  This scholarly standout owns consecutive selections to the SCIAC All-Academic Team and will be a four-time Redlands Scholar-Athlete.

Last season, Godina not only landed on the Academic All-District Team but also became an Academic All-American as well.

Roy earns his first CoSIDA Academic All-District nod after a stellar season with the Maroon and Gray.  Earlier this week, he hauled in his inaugural All-Conference award with a spot on the First Team.  During the Bulldogs' 8-2 season, Roy led the team with 403 receiving yards on 32 catches for six touchdowns in nine games played.  In addition, he provided key blocking throughout the field to contribute to Redlands' effective offense.

This Business Administration major will become a three-time SCIAC All-Academic Team member and two-time Redlands Scholar-Athlete.

These Bulldogs are now eligible for Academic All-America consideration.
