The Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced earlier today that junior defensive back Jeff Hector (Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA) has been named the Football Specialist of the Week for October 14-21. This marks the University of Redlands football team's sixth SCIAC award this season.
As a member of special teams, Hector made an explosive, 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to start the second half with a bang in the Bulldog's 35-17 win at the University of La Verne. He also registered one tackle on the day but provided plenty of off-ball contributions as a viable member of the kick, punt, and PAT units.
Hector's return is currently tied for the second-longest kickoff return in the SCIAC this season. It also marks the first kickoff return for a touchdown for the Bulldogs since November 19, 2016.
