Mark Kirkland and Jonah Advincula named 1st Team All-SCIAC

2022 Baseball All-SCIAC Teams

REDLANDS, Calif. - The 2022 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) baseball teams were announced Wednesday following a vote conducted by the league's member head coaches.

Senior first baseman Mark Kirkland (Redlands, CA) and junior outfielder Jonah Advincula (Santa Clara, CA) represented the University of Redlands both being named 1st Team All-SCIAC.

This marks the first time for both of them being recognized on an All-SCIAC team in their careers. 

Kirkland had a big year for the Maroon and Grey proving to be one of the top first basemen in the country after he put up record numbers.  He was selected to the d3baseball.com Team of the Week and was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week twice.  Within conference he batted .469 with 45 hits, which included seven doubles, two triples, and two homeruns.  He also added 20 runs scored, 34 runs batted in, seven stolen bases with a .513 OBP and a slugging percentage of .646.

In SCIAC he ranked No. 1 in Triples, Sacrifice Flies, and Batting Average, No. 2 in Hits and On Base Percentage, No. 4 in RBI's, No. 5 in Stolen Bases, No. 6 in Total Bases, and No. 7 in Slugging Percentage. 

Advincula also had an outstanding year controlling left field for the Bulldogs totaling 38 hits within conference for a .404 batting average, including three doubles, two triples, and four homeruns.  This combined with 15 stolen bases, 33 runs scored, 22 runs batted in, an OBP of .509 and a slugging percentage of .606. 

In SCIAC he ranked No. 1 in Runs Scored, Triples, and Stolen Bases, No. 3 in On-Base Percentage, No. 4 in Walks and Hits, and No. 8 in Batting Average. 

Redlands finished the year 22-16-1, 12-11-1 SCIAC and posted a 6th Place finish within the conference standings.
