The University of Redlands baseball team traveled to Orange to face off against the Chapman University Panthers in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action for the Bulldogs' first Final-Four contest on Sunday morning. The Bulldogs struggled on all fronts throughout the contest, due in part to four errors and failing to plate any runs en route to a 0-9 defeat.
Senior first baseman Ryan Franklin (Manhattan Beach, CA) highlighted the offensive efforts by recording two base-knocks, one coming via double. Senior left-fielder Mitch Samson (Orangevale, CA), junior center-fielder Christian Conci (San Mateo, CA), and sophomore designated hitter Joey Warner (Indio, CA) each recorded a hit.
Senior starter Michael Collins (Upland, CA) was tagged with the loss after lasting six innings and allowing six runs – only one being earned. Sophomore reliever Rainier Aguilar (San Bernardino, CA) tossed two innings in relief and allowed three runs.
The Bulldogs (24-12, 16-9 SCIAC) take on the No. 22 Cal Lutheran University Kingsmen on Monday, May 2, at home for the second of four Final-Four games. Game time is set for 3 p.m. at The Yard.
