Since its construction in 1996, the Thompson Aquatic Center has served as the home of the Bulldog water polo and swimming & diving teams. Named after the generous donors, it has been tremendous in the successful recruiting of new student-athletes and developing high-caliber aquatic programs at the University of Redlands.

The 75- by 147-foot pool has 13 25-yard swimming lanes for training and competition. In addition, the pool offers the water polo teams a 30-meter area for regulation play. As a result of two significant donors, the pool has received important upgrades in the past few years. In 2004, high-quality lights by Musco Lighting were added, which increases opportunities for competition and training during the evening. In addition, the scoreboard was replaced in 2008 with a Colorado Timing Systems Olympex Color Display. Equipped with graphics and animation capability, the board is a red LED with 10 lines of 8.1"-tall characters.

Beyond the pool itself, the Thompson Aquatic Center boasts four regulation diving boards, including two 1M and two 3M boards. This provides the diving team with wonderful practice and competition conditions.

Finally, when not utilized by the varsity programs, the Thompson Aquatic Center serves as a luxurious recreational pool for the University community. During the summer hours, the pool is available for free swim to students and employees as an ideal place to cool off from the Southern California heat.
