After decades of utilizing a dirt track for intercollegiate training and competition, the University of Redlands excitedly welcomed the installation of Ashel Cunningham Track during the Fall of 2005. Located inside Ted Runner Stadium, the all-weather Mondo® surface serves as an excellent home facility for the Bulldog track & field programs.

Named after Redlands’ first athletic director, the track was made possible by generous donations from alumni and friends of the University. The $1.4 million project also included reconfiguration of the old track, new restroom facilities in the home stands, a new visitor ticket window, new gates, and landscaping.

Mr. Ashel Cunningham worked at the University of Redlands from 1913 until 1953 as a coach, administrator, and as the school's first athletic director. As the founder of the Athletics and Physical Education department, he established a lasting tradition of athletic excellence and academic growth for all Redlands students.

Ashel Cunningham Track is open to the University community during the week, generally during the morning hours. Additional information and usage rules are posted on site.
